About me

I am a consultant cardiologist with specialist expertise in managing adult patients with heart rhythm problems. These might present with palpitations, irregular heartbeats, heart racing, dizziness, blackouts, breathlessness, and fatigue.

I am one of a few cardiologists in the North West of the United Kingdom performing a high volume of potentially curative catheter ablation procedures, including for Atrial Fibrillation, Atrial Flutter and Supra-Ventricular Tachycardia (SVT). I also implant simple and complex pacemakers and defibrillators.

I have won Clinical Excellence Awards (CEAs) for each year I have been in practice, and a national IWantGreatCare Certificate of Excellence in recognition of consistently outstanding patient feedback. I've been an invited speaker for the Arrhythmia Alliance and A-Fib Association national patient education days, in recognition of my patient communication expertise.

I graduated in medicine in London, with distinctions in all phases of medical school. I studied heart rhythm management at the prestigious Hammersmith/St Marys Hospitals, where I achieved full certification as a specialist in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac devices by the European Heart Rhythm Association. I have a PhD and multiple publications (>50) and prizes in the field of complex ablation. I am currently lead investigator on a multicentre atrial arrhythmia ablation trial. I am frequently invited to speak as an expert in Atrial Fibrillation and Ventricular Tachycardia at national ablation meetings.

My NHS practice is based at the Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital (LHCH), one of the largest and highest volume specialist heart centres in the UK, where I see patients referred to me from across the North-West of England, North Wales and more.

I live in South Liverpool with my wife and children. I cycle every day to work which helps me stay fit. I love all things football, and volunteer as a youth coach for my son and daughter's team all year round.
