About me

Mr Vimo Arumuham is a Consultant General Urological Surgeon with a tertiary, subspecialty interest in Endourology and Stone Disease; appointed in 2018, he provides care for patients across West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the internationally renowned Endourology and Stones Unit at University College London Hospital.

Having trained over 10 years in North Central London, he is one of the handful of Doctors in the UK appointed as a “Darzi Clinical Fellow” under the prestigious National Medical Director’s Programme, to streamline patient pathways and write the Quality Account for the Royal Free London Hospital.

At West Herts, he is the Clinical Lead for the Acute Stone Pathway, both for referrals from the Emergency Department and through General Practice. He has designed and created the Urgent Stone Assessment Service at West Herts, which allows patients to be seen rapidly without needing to attend the Emergency Department. Furthermore, with the development of his award-winning Virtual Stone Clinic, he has reduced the time to kidney stone treatment and follow up by half. He is also a Medical Examiner to the Coroner of Hertfordshire and understands that clear communication and empathy is the centre of patient care.

He has undertaken 2 International Urological Fellowships in Shanghai, China and Colombo, Sri Lanka and has been further awarded the prestigious “Urology Foundation” Scholarship from the British Association of Urological Surgeons, to further enhance his Urological Skills. Upon completion of training, he was awarded the annual “Markowitz Prize” from the Institute of Urology, UCLH.
