About me

Dr Amanda Jewison is a Consultant Radiologist, with 17 years of clinical experience and 6 years as a consultant. She graduated from Brighton and Sussex Medical School and completed radiology training in Sussex, across seven different hospitals. Her substantive NHS post is at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, based predominantly at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Dr Jewison specialises in thoracic and head and neck imaging. She reports general and specialist cross-sectional imaging, including high-resolution CT, lung cancer staging CTs, head and neck MRI and temporal bone CT. She is an expert in neck ultrasound and performs over 200 CT- and ultrasound-guided biopsies per year, including lung and pleural biopsies, lymph node and salivary gland biopsies, cyst aspirations and thyroid fine-needle aspiration. She is part of the Brighton lung multidisciplinary teams and the Sussex wide head and neck and thyroid cancer teams, reviewing images from across the county.

Dr Jewison has been actively involved in lung cancer screening since 2022 and annually reports over 2000 low dose screening chest CTs.

A keen educator, Dr Jewison is a clinical supervisor for radiology trainees across Sussex and teaches medical students, resident doctors and specialist radiology registrars. She regularly coaches senior trainees in preparation for final radiology exams. Dr Jewison also interviews and examines for Brighton and Sussex Medical School and gives lectures for the South East Imaging Training Academy.

Dr Jewison is a member of the British Society of Thoracic Imaging, the British Institute of Radiology, British Society of Head and Neck Imaging and the Radiological Society of North America. She has presented multiple posters and presentations at national and international radiology conferences and has won two prestigious Magna Cum Laude awards at RSNA.
