Helene graduated with a medical degree in 1997 from the University of Liverpool.
After completing her house year at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital in 1998, she obtained a place on the Northwest BST programme and completed this together with her MRCS qualification in 2001.

Helene has always held a passion for orthopaedics and trauma and after a holding a research fellow position for a year, she joined the higher speciality training programme for the Mersey region. She gained her FRCS in 2010 and began focused speciality training in upper limb disorders, including shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist.

Helene has spent time in Wrightington Hospital allowing her to focus her training on specific shoulder, elbow, hand, and wrist conditions. She has also visited several centres around the UK and Europe to gain further experience. Miss Stevenson was appointed a consultant in 2012 to Aintree University Hospital and is now part of the merged Liverpool University foundation trust hospitals. Besides her particular interest in arthroscopic and arthroplasty procedures, she is also a member of the major trauma team for Cheshire and Merseyside.

She is the current clinical director for trauma within LUHFT and has held this post since 2022. Helene is also a member of LIMBS, the metastatic bone unit at LUHFT.

She maintains a keen interest in research and has published several papers, which have been presented both nationally and internationally.

Helene has also completed an MSc in Leadership and leadership development in Liverpool John Moores University. Her dissertation focused on psychological safety within the orthopaedic and theatre departments. Helene is a reviewer for two journals including Shoulder and elbow surgery.

Outside of medicine Helene is married with 4 children. She is a keen pianist at grade seven. Hobbies include swimming, music, and walking and skiing.
