About me
Mr Ali Al-lami (BSc (1st Hons), MBBS (Distinction), MSc (Distinction), MRCS, DOHNS, FRCS (ORL-HNS))
I am a multiple prizes winning consultant Ear, Nose and Throat/ Head and neck surgeon based in Kent and the south east of England.
I graduated from the University of London and completed an intercalated BSc at the University of Leeds in anatomy, achieving distinctions and first class grades in all of my 6 undergraduate years. I have won undergraduate and postgraduate academic prizes including winning the annual Sydney Scott & Henry Silverman ENT medical student prize and the annual ENT masterclass silver medal. After graduating, I completed a postgraduate masters with distinction in international health management & leadership from the University of Sheffield.
I undertook postgraduate ENT training in prestigious hospitals in Cambridge, London and across the Kent, Surrey & Sussex deanery. I have had tertiary level paediatric ENT training at the two world renowned hospitals of Great Ormond Street and Evelina London childrens hospitals where I learnt the coblation technique for tonsils and adenoids removal. I completed a prestigious nationally appointed fellowship at Guy's & St. Thomas' Hospitals where I further developed my subspecialty interest in head & neck, thyroid and parathyroid surgery including robotic surgery.
I commenced my consultant post at East Kent Hospitals in 2020 and set up the head and neck robotic surgery in the trust. I seek excellence in what I do for my patients, treat them as if they are my family members and go the extra mile for their care at their time of need. I aim to provide a personalised care of the highest quality.
I am academically involved in the field of research in ENT and keep up to date. I have published widely in peer reviewed journals and I am frequently invited to give lectures and as a faculty in courses. I have won many postgraduate prizes including the prestigious annual ENT masterclass international conference silver medal for a research project that contributed to national guidelines.
I am passionate about education and teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I have founded the multidisciplinary robotic teaching for medical students at my local medical school. I am the course director of the ENT consultant's exam preparation course as well as organise trainee surgeons training days in the region.
I enjoy travelling, cycling and spending time with my young family including baking cakes with his wife and 2 beautiful daughters.
