About me
I have been working as a mental health practitioner for almost 30 years and began my private practice, ‘Personal Matters’ in 2003. ‘Personal Consultancy’ (a combination of counselling, psychotherapy and psychological coaching) is the umbrella term I use for sensitively attending to the causes of the current dilemma and the various ways and means/techniques used to facilitate recovery and personal well-being. As an Associate Fellow and Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society, up to date research and latest treatment developments are key to my practice, so I am, additionally, a member of the Counselling, Psychotherapy and Coaching Divisions of the British Psychological Society.
Areas of interest
I specialise in working with adults on a one-to-one basis with
loss (e.g. bereavement, divorce, break-ups); primary mental health diagnoses (e.g. anxiety and depression);
relational difficulties (e.g. problems within various relationships and forming relationships); work related stress (e.g. bullying and toxic environments);
personal crisis (e.g. quarter life, mid-life, aging); trauma (e.g. preoccupied with recent incidents, preoccupied with childhood experiences); and unrealised personal potential (e.g. low self-esteem, concerns about communication).
Person Centred, Jungian, CBT and MCBT, Compassion and Trauma Focussed techniques are amongst those I draw from, within my main model of practice.
