About me
Clinical and Sport & Exercise Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, a Chartered Member and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, and a Full Member of the European Association for Aviation Psychology.
Gary has a broad range of psychological interests and clinical experience developed from over 15 years of working in various professional contexts including the NHS, private practice, elite sport, and the corporate sector. Gary is passionate about working collaboratively with his clients to reach a mutual understanding of their difficulties so that he can tailor interventions to meet their specific and unique needs. He, therefore, draws on a range of different evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), and solution focused therapy (SFT) to help people make progress and reach their desired aims. He currently offers online, Skype or FaceTime sessions. Gary has several special interests, including Aviation Psychology, working both with aircrew and air traffic controllers. Gary also has extensive expertise in providing one-to-one life and executive coaching and he is passionate about helping his clients move towards the realisation of their personal and professional goals. Gary uses a collaborative, client-centered approach in his coaching sessions. He creates an open, supportive, and trusting environment that encourages clients to deeply self-reflect, develop self-awareness, pinpoint negative thinking and behavioural patterns, and create positive behavioural changes. As a result, clients broaden their perspectives and are empowered to create actions toward their goals. Gary's experience also includes working within high performance environments, such as aviation, elite sport and the corporate arena, providing consultancy work, coaching and therapy for individuals and teams experiencing performance-related issues, such as performance slumps, performance anxiety and loss of confidence, with the goal of optimising performance, realising potential, and achieving excellence. This extensive experience has enabled Gary to develop an in-depth understanding of the psychological and emotional demands and mental health issues faced by individuals in high-performance and high-pressure environments and he is passionate about providing psychological support to this client group.
