About me

My initial training as a psychological therapist began with my completion of a Post Graduate Diploma, in Cognitive Therapy at The Salford Cognitive Therapy Training Centre (part of The University of Manchester).

I was also a clinical tutor at this centre a few years later. I then went on to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Cognitive Therapy Studies at The Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre, (The University of Oxford).

I am accredited by The British Association of Cognitive & Behavioural Therapists, therefore have to meet certain standards of continuing professional development and training.

I am also a certified Advanced Schema Therapist, certified by The International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST) . Schema therapy is often described as an 'advanced form' of cognitive therapy, however it is far more than this, as it involves approaches from many different psychotherapeutic modalities.

I am also a practicing EMDR therapist (EMDR refers to eye movement, desensitisation, reprocessing therapy).

I have also trained extensively in other ‘third wave’ cbt approaches which I often integrate into my clinical work (such as DBT, Compassionate Mind Therapy and ACT etc). In addition to this, I am a qualified mental health nurse.

Prior to my training in the field of mental health, I studied academic Philosophy at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate level. I also believe that philosophy has a huge role to play in psychotherapy / psychological therapy.

Areas of interest

Cognitive Therapy; Schema Therapy; EMDR.
