About me
BACP Accredited counsellor, offering both long and short term therapy to adults & young people either face-to-face, over Zoom or by telephone.
My core training was as an integrative counsellor & therapist. More recently, I have become a Trauma-informed therapist which means I invite you to think in terms of what has happened to you rather than what is wrong with you.
My approach founded on the a human need to tell & process our stories in a safe space, whether verbally or in writing. This is likely to involve exploring past events, relationships & how these are impacting us today, integrating these into our life's narratives before hopefully, moving on with more positivity. This can be especially useful around times of transition through life's stages such as between schools/college/university/relationships or bereavements.
My interest before I began my counselling training was in creative writing. I completed an MA in Creative Writing for Personal Development & although there is no obligation for clients to write as part of their therapy (!), I often draw on ideas such as use of metaphors for accessing difficult emotions more easily.
I have undergone further training in how best to support people who either have a diagnosis of autism or are awaiting to be tested and exploring what this might mean for them.
