About me
Michael graduated in 2009 from the University of Glasgow. He also has a BSc(Hons) in Biomedical Science. He completed his specialist training in both Rheumatology and General Medicine in the West of Scotland. He gained experience working in various hospitals and rheumatology clinics. He has been a Consultant Rheumatologist and Physician at Gartnavel General Hospital since 2019 and began working at Nuffield Health Glasgow Hospital in 2021. He was appointed as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow in 2019.
Dr Reed has broad clinical experience in all areas of Rheumatology. He treats inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue disease, gout and all forms of musculoskeletal pain. He provides a complete range of rheumatological treatments including: intra articular (joint) and soft tissue injections, intra-venous therapies, immunosuppressive treatments, disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs, and biological therapies.
Using a multidisciplinary approach and evidenced based medicine he believes in delivering the highest standards of personalised patient care.
Dr Reed has a specialist interest in psoriatic arthritis, spondyloarthropathies and back pain. He also has extensive experience treating inflammatory arthritis, gout/pseudogout and many other musculoskeletal problems. He has also gained qualifications in use of musculoskeletal ultrasound to detect inflammatory arthritis.
