About me
Mr Deepak Batura graduated with an MBBS from India before completing his master's in surgery and earning his Diplomate of the National Board. He then further trained in Urology, obtaining his MCh from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Following this, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
With over 30 years of experience, he has developed his urology skills across various secondary and tertiary teaching hospitals in the United Kingdom, Asia, and the Middle East. He has also held the position of Associate Professor for both Mumbai and Delhi Universities. He has served as Consultant Urologist at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust for the last 16 years.
He has special interests in general urology, lower urinary reconstructive urology, incontinence, upper tract and pelvic urology, endourology, uro-oncology and female urology. He also has an expertise in urethroplasty, for urethral narrowing using grafted tissue, which he has introduced into his Trust. He also treats abnormal penile curvatures (Peyronie's disease).
He is skilled in laser treatments, both for prostate enlargements as well as for bladder cancers. As well as urological infections, which he treats and researches.
Mr Batura is a compassionate doctor who is deeply appreciated by his patients for the thoughtful care and clear explanations he offers. He takes the time to thoroughly explain their condition, discuss available options, and work together to make decisions, all in a patient, unrushed, and empathetic manner.
He has a strong passion for medical education and serves as an educational supervisor with the Imperial College School of Medicine and the London Deanery. With over 65 publications in respected, PubMed-indexed international journals, he is dedicated to advancing knowledge in his field.
He has vast experience with editorial assignments. He is a Specialist Advisor for the Urology Update Series for the Royal College of Surgeons of England, an Associate of the European Association of Urology Section of Infections in Urology (ESIU), an Editorial Board Member in Adult Urology for International Urology and Nephrology, The Medical Journal of Shree Birendra Hospital, Nepal and the Urology Section Editor for the Bulletin of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He has been a journal referee for more than 30 eminent indexed journals and a reviewer for the European Association of Urology annual congress. As a speaker and chair, he has experience in more than 40 pivotal international conferences in Asia, Europe and North America.
He has dedicated time to charitable medical work, providing care to underprivileged rural communities and slum dwellers in resource-limited regions. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys travelling and hiking in the hills.
