About me
Pronouns: she/her.
When you're stuck, overwhelmed, lost, or confused about how you feel, you need a safe place to talk openly about your thoughts, feelings and experiences, without being judged. Would you like to understand yourself better, find solutions to your problems, or discover a new way forward?
I'm a warm, sincere counsellor who can understand what it's like to be in your shoes and help you work through your emotions. I'm able to work with you at whatever level feels right for you, and I have what it takes to go deeper and help you with particularly difficult emotions, if that's what you want.
I have 18 years' NHS experience, working with a wide variety of problems, including depression, stress and anxiety, relationship problems, childhood abuse, and grief and loss. My area of special interest is working with adult children of narcissistic parents, particularly daughters of narcissistic mothers.
I'm trained in person-centred experiential therapy which is also known as "Counselling for Depression" and is a type of humanistic therapy that can focus on emotions, helping you explore how your feelings impact on your thoughts and behaviour. The aim of therapy is to give you:
~ help to recover from depression
~ greater awareness of your feelings and their impact on you
~ greater understanding of the difficulties that you are experiencing
~ greater confidence about the future
~ the ability to make changes to the way that you think and behave
I provide individual therapy via video-call or in person from a dedicated therapy room in my home in Barnoldswick, East Lancashire. I don't offer sessions via telephone.
I look forward to meeting you when you're ready to take the next step.
