About me
I have been a consultant surgeon since 1999, initially at Derbyshire Royal Infirmary and now at the Royal Derby Hospital. I am a general surgeon with specialist interests in vascular and endocrine surgery. My training was completed in the West of Scotland, during which I undertook an MD thesis focusing on the surgical management of malignant melanoma.
Throughout my career, I have played a key role in developing vascular services across Derbyshire, helping to establish and expand high?quality care for patients in the region.
Outside of work, I enjoy walking in the Derbyshire Peak District, playing golf, and spending time at the opera and theatre.
Areas of interest
hernias including inguinal hernias; femoral hernia; incisional hernia; epigastric; umbilical and paraumbilical hernia; Special interest in abdominal wall hernia reconstruction;Open and laparoscopic hernia repairs; rectal bleeding; including hemorrhoids'; anal fissures and perform sigmoidoscopy; upper gastroscopy to investigate heartburn and indigestion and perform laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gall bladder problems; minor surgery for ingrowing toe nails and skin lesions.
I undertake both thyroid surgery and parathyroid surgery.
As a vascular surgeon, I undertake treatment of varicose veins surgery; radiofrequency; foam injections; open varicose veins surgery. I undertake carotid artery surgery; arterial bypass surgery; both endoscopic and open repair of aortic aneurysm.
