Qualifications
Dr Elnazer completed his training in general adult psychiatry, with endorsements, Rehabilitation, Liaison Psychiatry in 2016. He also received formal training in in Neuropsychiatry. Dr Elnazer achieved additional qualifications in psychopharmacology: Certificate of Clinical Psychopharmacology (2017) and Preclinical/Non-Clinical Psychopharmacology (2014), from the British Association for Psychopharmacology.
Dr Elnazer was awarded the degree of doctorate of medicine in clinical neuroscience, University of Southampton, 2020 for the thesis entitled " Sexual functioning in patients with anxiety disorders: an investigation of the potential influence of neuroinflammatory and endocrine factors

About me
Dr Elnazer is a consultant psychiatrist and neuropsychiatrist. Dr Elnazer's caseload includes a range of common and complex enduring psychiatric conditions. He undertakes assessment and treatment for patients with affective disorders (anxiety, depression), psychotic illnesses and ADHD assessments. In his special interest clinic, he undertakes assessment and treatment for patients with neuropsychiatric disorders (including neurodegenerative conditions and patients with brain injury) and psychiatric disorders comorbidly existing with physical health issues. Dr Elnazer worked in a number of regional and national centres of excellence including the national centre for brain injury rehabilitation, Kemsley, St Andrew's hospital, St George's Hospital in London and the University Hospital of Southampton.
Dr Elnazer is a senior clinical lecturer at the Brighton and Sussex School of Medicine, Sussex University and is the academic secretary of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, SED. He also served as an executive member of the faculty of neuropsychiatry and secretary of neuro-rehabilitation working group, at the Royal College of Psychiatrist in London. He worked within the faculty to develop responses and recommendations to the World Health Organisation (WHO) and NHS-England. As a member of the National Neuro Advisory Group, he took part in national workshops to develop a five-year implementation plan for NHS-England in 2019, with the emphasis on development of specialised services and improving access to mental health services for patients with brain injury and psychiatric patients with comorbid neurological disorders. He worked to develop the Royal College’s International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) recommendations to WHO and to develop the Framework for Routine Outcome Measurement in Neuropsychiatry, for NHS-England. Dr Elnazer was also a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Acquired Brain Injury Committee, which formalised parliamentary recommendation for brain injury services, to the UK government in 2018.
Dr Elnazer has been involved with several research projects and he has a number of publications in peer-reviewed journals. Dr Elnazer worked as a primary investigator for several national studies. He presented in national and international events. Dr Elnazer several -publications in peer-reviewed journals, which were cited 134 times to-date.
Dr Elnazer is a clinical and educational supervisor, and he has supervised a number of speciality trainees; MSc students and IPC pharmacists, over the years. He has formally taught in both university and NHS settings. Dr Elnazer was awarded the Wessex Deanery Educational Excellence Award for his work to develop the Royal College Membership Course. He is a Royal College examiner and exam writer. Dr Elnazer is a member of the senior panel of the Clinical Assessment of Skills and Competencies (CASC), Royal College of Psychiatrists, London. He has also worked, to develop the national training curriculum and the neuropsychiatry accreditation program.
Dr Elnazer is bilingual and is fluent in both English and Arabic. Dr Elnazer is passionate about mental health and helped to raise funds for Mind and mental health research UK in the London Marathon 2015.
