About me

I trained at Edinburgh University Medical School and had junior doctor appointments in Edinburgh, Leeds and London. I was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist in 1997 at Southend and London Chest Hospitals.

In 2007 I became the Lead Cardiologist for the newly opened Essex Cardio-thoracic Centre (CTC), which I had helped to plan and develop, and returned to a full time clinical post in 2011 at Southend Hospital and the Essex CTC.

I have received comprehensive training in all aspects of adult general cardiology with a sub-specialty interest in coronary intervention (angioplasty).

I was responsible for developing rotablation services at the CTC and also led the development of angioplasty for chronically totally occluded coronary arteries (CTO).

I have an NHS practice at Southend Hospital which includes diagnostic coronary angiography, pacemakers and an out-patient clinic.

My private practice includes all aspects of out-patient adult general cardiology including non-invasive tests (heart rhythm monitoring, imaging etc) at the Spire Wellesley Hospital.

I undertake invasive procedures for private patients (coronary angioplasty, angiography, permanent pacemaker implantation, cardioversion) at the Brook Suite, Essex Cardio-thoracic Centre, Basildon Hospital.

Areas of interest

Interventional cardiology (coronary angioplasty with stent deployment; Complex coronary angioplasty including rotablation, angioplasty for chronic total occlusions and left main stem angioplasty);

Permanent pacing for bradyarrhythmias and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation;
General adult cardiology including the management of coronary artery disease; Atrial fibrillation and arrhythmias; Heart failure; Cardiomyopathies; Preventative cardiology.
