About me
I am a HCPC registered clinical psychologist, and have worked within the NHS since 2012. My roles within the NHS have been in various settings, including community mental health teams, inpatient services, and forensic secure services. I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Canterbury Christchurch in 2017 and published my thesis in exploring mechanisms through which the clients experience can be harnessed to improve mental health services.
My experiences have fostered a strong belief that there is no “one approach fits all”, and so I view each person’s struggle as unique, requiring a tailored intervention to suit the specific needs.
I am committed to supporting individuals to adopt a more positive and compassionate narrative about their experiences and struggles and to strive for a healthy meaningful life. This is modelled within the therapeutic relationship, where I aim to facilitate a safe and warm environment for you to feel understood and are given the time and space to work towards your personal solutions. Thus adhering to my belief that the key to successful therapy is a collaborative and trusting relationship.
Areas of interest
I have a specialist interest in perinatal mental health, supporting parents struggling with their mental health during their pregnancy and the first year postnatally; their attachment and bonding to their infant; as well as the ambivalent feelings that this transition, new role and new relationship with their baby, can raise for people at this time.
