About me

Dr Sachin Patel is an experienced consultant psychiatrist with over 20 years of clinical practice, specialising in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of mental health conditions. He trained at the University of Birmingham and completed his postgraduate specialist psychiatric training at leading institutions in London, including the Institute of Psychiatry.

He has held a consultant post in liaison psychiatry at Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital since 2014, where he works at the interface of mental and physical health. He has been a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2011, is a GMC recognised trainer of higher specialist trainees in psychiatry and also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London. He is actively involved in training the next generation of psychiatrists and doctors.

Dr Patel takes a calm, collaborative, and holistic approach, recognising the close connection between mental and physical health. He works closely with patients to understand their individual circumstances, providing clear assessments and practical, personalised treatment plans. He has particular expertise in supporting individuals whose mental health is affected by physical illness, as well as those experiencing complex and long-standing difficulties.

Dr Patel provides comprehensive one-off assessments for diagnosis and treatment recommendations, ongoing outpatient psychiatric care and follow-up and support for complex inpatient cases involving overlapping mental and physical healthcare needs Where appropriate, he can liaise with other healthcare professionals, including colleagues in the NHS, to ensure coordinated and effective care.

Research & publications: Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Patel has contributed to a number of academic publications and books. His academic work reflects a strong commitment to improving patient care, particularly in hospital and integrated care settings
