About me
Dr Nekma Meah is a Consultant Dermatologist with a specialist interest in the management of alopecia and scalp disorders. She has undertaken an international fellowship in hair and scalp disorders under Professor Rodney Sinclair in Australia and published extensively in this area. She runs the specialist hair clinic at St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust and is currently the Honorary Secretary of the British Hair and Nail Society https://bhns.org.uk/.
She obtained her MBChB from the University of Manchester in 2007 and undertook her junior doctor training in the West Midlands before entering the specialist dermatology programme in Liverpool. She qualified as a Consultant Dermatologist in 2017.
She holds a substantive consultant NHS post at St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust, where she sees all aspects of general dermatology including medical dermatology (acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, hyperhidrosis), skin cancers, mole checks, and performs regular dermatological surgery. In addition to running the specialist hair clinic, she manages patients in the specialist biologics clinic for patients with severe psoriasis.
Dr Meah is passionate about dermatology, teaching and research. She is Undergraduate Lead at St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust, Honorary Clinical Lecturer at The University of Manchester and serves on the steering committee for the global COVID-19 alopecia registry – SECURE alopecia.
