About me

As a trainee in the Oxford deanery, he trained under nationally respected hip and knee specialists including Mr Roger Gundle and Royal College Hunterian Professor Max Gibbons. He acquired a particular interest in partial joint replacements, full joint replacements and tumour surgery. During his training Mr Pegrum was twice awarded the Nuffield prize for research in hip injuries and was a national Royal College of Surgeons Margaret Witt Scholar.

After completing his training he did Fellowships in knee reconstruction surgery with Professor Adrian Harvey of Bournemouth Hospital and joint replacement surgery at the world renowned Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. His research interests have involved techniques to optimise, improve and speed up recovery following surgery and he has published widely in peer reviewed journals.

Mr Pegrum prides himself in providing patient centered care by listening and then delivering an individually tailored thorough assessment. He covers all hip and knee conditions including arthritis, soft tissue and sports injuries.

He specialises in hip and knee surgery, particularly joint replacements and partial knee replacements, performing large numbers of these every year, with excellent outcomes. Through his specialist training in sports medicine he has developed expertise in arthroscopic surgery, regularly treating meniscal and knee injuries.

He has a strong interest in education with regular invitations to talk internationally and locally. He supervises trainee surgeons from Bristol and has previously won numerous teaching awards - including being voted 'Trainer of the year'
