About me
Mr Hassan Elhassan is a Sinus Surgery and Nose specialist in London. He is particularly skilled at helping patients with sinusitis, nasal polyps, blocked noses and breathing problems. He has developed specialist surgical skills and techniques by training and visiting the best centres of sinus surgery excellence in the world.
He gained his primary qualification in Medicine from Barts and The London, University of London in 2005 and attained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2015. In 2016, he has also gained Certificates of Completion of Training – Otorhinolaryngology Specialist from the General Medical Council. Mr Elhassan has interests in education and training, in addition to research, having had numerous papers published. Having been appointed as Consultant Surgeon in 2018, his NHS practice is based in Homerton University Hospital Foundation Trust and he also has private practice privileges in London.
He has an enthusiasm for surgical efficient process and management and has introduced many quality improvement initiatives in multiple hospital departments.
More recently he was appointed Deputy Clinical Director for ENT in London region. He has contributed to the design of the High Volume Low Capacity ENT pathways as part of the Elective Recovery Program. He also co-authored the unified consent forms for the ENT pathway. Part of his remit has involved co-ordinating the Mutual Aid ENT pathway in North East London where elective surgery patients are offered treatment in the neighbouring trusts.
He graduated from the Barts Medical School, University of London in 2005 and as well as gaining post graduate surgical qualifications (DOHNS and FRCS England) he has a BSc in experimental pathology which encouraged his interest in bench to bedside research.
He has an interest in surgical innovation and technology as well as Evidence Based Medicine and education and has published in leading journals on these topics. He has presented nationally and internationally and received multiple post graduate prizes.
He is a keen clinical teacher and has chaired the Junior branch of the Association for the Study of Medical Education and was awarded University colours for his work on the undergraduate curriculum. He has organised a national conference on medical education and has convened the first cadaveric sinus surgery dissection course in Wales.
