About me
Mr Stylianos Georgoulas is an esteemed and highly-regarded consultant ophthalmologist, who practises in Cambridge (Cambridge University Hospitals and Spire Lea Cambridge Hospital). Mr Georgoulas has over 15 years of medical experience and specialises in cataract surgery with monofocal, toric and multifocal lenses, lens refractive surgery, glaucoma surgery (trabeculectomy and glaucoma drainage devices), micro-invasive glaucoma eye surgery (Preserflo, iStent and Omni), glaucoma diagnosis and medical management and glaucoma laser treatments.
Mr Georgoulas graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece with a medical degree in 2004. He then did research at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary (New York University) and continued his career at the University College London Institute of Ophthalmology, where he obtained his PhD in ophthalmology for his research in ocular drug formulation and delivery. He then got accepted into the reputable North London Ophthalmology training programme and completed specialist training in ophthalmology, including a 3-year training at Moorfields Eye Hospital. Subsequently, he undertook glaucoma fellowships at St Thomas Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Throughout his career, Mr Georgoulas has gained extensive clinical and surgical experience in general ophthalmology, cataract, and glaucoma. He specialises in complex cataract surgery and offers specialist consultations to patients with glaucoma disorders. Over the past 10 years, Mr Georgoulas has performed aa very high number of surgeries in London and Cambridge, achieving outstanding audited results.
In 2019, he began his position as a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Cambridge University Hospitals. Mr Georgoulas is currently working as glaucoma and complex cataract surgery consultant at Cambridge University Hospitals and at the Spire Lea Cambridge. He also leads the Glaucoma Clinic at the Vision and Eye Research Centre at Anglia Ruskin University.
