This package includes your appointments before and after surgery, as well as your surgery and mono-focal lenses. It means you won’t use up your out-patient benefit or receive any additional bills from your surgeon (or anaesthetist, if you need one) for eligible treatment.

About me
Manjit Mehat is an award-winning eye surgeon who specialises in cataract and retinal surgery, including floaters, macular hole, epiretinal membrane and retinal detachment surgery. He also manages patients for the medical treatment of retinal conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and blood vessel disorders of the retina.
Manjit has undertaken 8-years of advanced surgical and research training at the world renowed Moorfields Eye Hospital. This included a two-years retinal surgery fellowship where he performed complex retinal and cataract surgery.
Dr Mehat has research expertise in retinal disease with a particular focus on the application of gene and stem-cell therapy to treat blindness. He is currently chief surgeon for the first retinal gene therapy trial in Edinburgh. Manjit has also been a senior investigator in the world's first gene therapy trial, published in the New England Journal of Medicine (2015) and more recently he was lead author for the first European trial for stem-cell transplantation for inherited macular degeneration.
Dr Mehat's NHS practice is currently based at the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavillion in Edinburgh and consults privately at Vision Scotland, Edinburgh Clinic and Spire Shawfair.
