About me

Dr Polkey is a chest physician with 20 years of consultant levevl experience. His NHS base is the Royal Brompton Hospital in London where he serves on the lung failure team. The Royal Brompton Hospital is a National centre of excellence for patients with lung disease in the UK. He is expert in sleep disorders and with all aspects of advanced lung disease which result in respiratory failure. He is particularly expert in CPAP therapy, weaning from invasive mechanical ventilation, the management of chronic respiratory failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and respiratory aspects of neurological disease such as ALS.

He spends 20% of his time subcontracted to NHS Highland where he practices general respiratory medicine in Lochaber and the Isle of Skye, and provides medical input into the NHS Highland sleep service

He was a recommended sleep specialist in the 2025 Tatler guide
