About me

Mr Jagernauth is a dual upper limb fellowship-trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in treatments for Shoulder, Elbow and Hand conditions.

After qualifying from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School in 2004 he undertook his basic surgical training in London. He completed his higher surgical training on the prestigious Royal London Hospital Trauma & Orthopaedic training programme and developed a specialist interest in Upper Limb Surgery including Trauma & Sports injuries.

He was awarded the Royal London Hospital Orthopaedic and Trauma Society travelling fellowship prize and trained for one year at the world-renowned Brisbane Upper Limb and Hand Unit in Australia. There, he worked with eminent upper limb surgeons and trained in all aspects of Emergency and Elective Hand and Upper Limb Surgery, including microsurgery.

This was followed by a second year of fellowship training with the President of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society at the nationally acclaimed, Liverpool Shoulder and Elbow Unit. There, he worked with leaders in the field of shoulder and elbow surgery and gained extensive experience in the latest surgical techniques including arthroscopic shoulder surgery and computer guided shoulder replacements.

He undertook a Trauma Fellowship at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital which has been invaluable to his expertise in delivering high standards of trauma care for patients with upper limb injuries.

Mr Jagernauth served as the national trainee representative for Education at the British Elbow and Shoulder Society. He is passionate about training junior doctors and regularly teaches on courses for senior registrars preparing for their final (FRCS Tr &Orth) examinations. Regionally, he is an examiner for students at University College London medical school.

He has published widely on trauma and orthopaedic surgery and has presented his work at both a national and international level. He is a reviewer for the Shoulder and Elbow Journal and serves as an expert medical witness for medicolegal cases involving conditions affecting the upper limb.

Philosophy

Mr Jagernauth understands that conditions affecting the upper limb can have a dramatic impact on one’s wellbeing and can often be disabling. He takes time to establish the root of the problem and provides patients with the information they need to make informed decisions for their care.

He takes great pride in delivering excellent clinical care in an affable manner, and uses shared decision-making to tailor his treatments to the individual needs of his patients.

Many upper limb conditions can be successfully treated without an operation and Mr Jagernauth will always explore these options first with his patients, before considering surgical intervention.

He was appointed as a Consultant Upper Limb Surgeon at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, London and serves as the Orthopaedic lead for Clinical Governance.
