About me

Mr Kim Chan is a fully trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. He was included into GMC Specialist Register in the Specialty of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. He was appointed as consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon, NHS Lanarkshire since July 2018.

His main subspecialty interest include the whole spectrum of upper limb surgery including shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist. He completed his fellowship in upper limb surgery in the North East of England. He also completed the BOA national clinical leadership during his fellowship year.

He is committed to education at all levels including undergraduate, higher surgical and postgraduate training. He is author for the hand viva chapter for the postgraduate orthopaedics series.

He has busy NHS Practise within NHS Lanarkshire covering 3 acute hospitals- Wishaw, Monklands and Hairmyres. He has private practice at Ross Hall Hospital, Glasgow and Kings Park Hospital, Stirlingshire.

His main elective practice involved whole spectrum of upper limb including shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand surgery. His trauma involvement including complex upper and lower limb surgery and general orthopaedic trauma including reconstruction. He has also performed day case shoulder replacement/arthropalsty.

He practice evidence based medicine and offer the latest treatment options be it non-operative or operative. He provides management and treatment to all his patients in line with national guidelines and best practices.

He performed majority of operation as day case, which means patient can go home on the same day when it is appropriate without needing to stay overnight in the hospital. He provides the full spectrum of treatment for upper limb conditions ranging from simple injection to arthroscopic keyhole surgery and complex open surgery.
