About me

I offer therapeutic support to children, adolescents and adults experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties such as low mood, anxiety, loss, trauma, stress, and self-esteem issues.

I have over 15 years of clinical experience working in the NHS, charitable and private sectors with individuals across the life span. I welcome clients from all backgrounds in a warm, non-judgmental and safe space.

I work with young adults who feel stuck in their lives and are feeling unsure about how to progress in their personal and professional lives (such as starting a family or considering a career change).

I also have extensive experience supporting parents struggling with their children and adolescents during a particular phase of development or going through difficult life events (such as moving home, parental divorce or birth of a sibling). I also support parents to strengthen their relationship as parents, reflect on their parenting and work together for the benefit of the child.
When working with young people and adolescents,

I recognise the importance of working collaboratively with parents while at the same time protecting the privacy of the therapeutic space for the young person (within the limits of safeguarding boundaries).

Life transitions, changes in family circumstances, illnesses and other losses are all examples of possible triggers that can have an impact on an individual's emotional world. However, sometimes, overwhelming feelings and burnout can start without an obvious reason, and this is when the initial meeting becomes even more important, to collaboratively reach a formulation of the problem.

My approach is psychodynamic, and I offer open-ended and short-term therapy such as DIT (Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy). In my work, emotional distress is understood in the context of unhelpful thought patterns, rooted in early relational experiences, and influencing current behaviour.

By developing an increased capacity to reflect on internal states and interpersonal dynamics, the aim of therapy is to bring deep-seated changes to the individual's life. As a result of this process, the individual usually experiences increased awareness, improved self-regulation and better ways to cope with difficult emotions.
