About me
Mr Shahrier Sarker is a highly respected Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in the diagnosis and surgical management of hand and wrist conditions, including trauma, fractures, arthritis, nerve compression syndromes and complex wrist injuries. Known for his calm, compassionate manner and clear communication, Mr Sarker ensures every patient receives thoughtful, tailored care.
With a strong belief that orthopaedic surgery is not just a profession but a true vocation, Mr Sarker brings both technical expertise and genuine dedication to every aspect of his clinical practice.
Mr Sarker began his medical training at the National University of Singapore, graduating in 2006. After relocating to the UK, he gained experience at leading institutions including Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge.
He completed his specialist trauma and orthopaedic training through Health Education East of England, before being awarded a prestigious fellowship in hand and wrist surgery at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. There, he trained alongside world-renowned orthopaedic and plastic hand surgeons, refining advanced techniques in both elective and trauma care.
In 2017, he earned a Master's degree in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University and is currently working toward the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) Diploma in Hand Surgery a testament to his ongoing commitment to professional development.
Mr Sarker is actively involved in surgical education and clinical leadership. He serves as Educational Lead for Orthopaedics at Broomfield Hospital, guiding medical students from Anglia Ruskin University and Queen Mary University of London.
He also contributes to national training programmes as an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) instructor and is a faculty member for Excellence in Surgical Supervision at The Royal College of Surgeons of England.
His academic contributions include multiple peer-reviewed publications, as well as national and international conference presentations. In recognition of his leadership potential, he was awarded a coveted position on the British Orthopaedic Association Future Leaders Programme, where he is currently developing a Complex Wrist Trauma Care Pathway to enhance outcomes for patients across Mid & South Essex.
Beyond clinical practice, Mr Sarker is actively involved in global health initiatives. He is a key member of the executive committee for the BSSH Overseas Project in Bangladesh, where he collaborates with local surgical teams to improve access to and quality of specialist hand surgery.
Mr Sarker takes a holistic, patient-centred approach, combining advanced surgical techniques with clear, compassionate communication. He works closely with patients to explore both non-operative and surgical treatment options, ensuring that care is always aligned with the individual's goals, lifestyle, and recovery potential.
