About me
CURRENT AVAILABILITY
Rebecca completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College London and has worked as a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist in the NHS for over 8 years. Currently, she works in an adult community mental health team alongside private practise.
Within her NHS role, she specialises in helping people experiencing anxiety, including obsessive compulsive disorder, generalised anxiety, health anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder and depression. She is trained in EMDR and often uses this therapy to help people process difficult and painful experiences that can often underlie these symptoms.
Prior to working in the adult community team, Rebecca worked in an NHS weight management and bariatric service. Here she worked with people struggling to lose weight by providing a psychological understanding of their relationship with food and their body and a psychologically informed weight-loss approach. She also helped people prepare for bariatric surgery and adjust to life post-surgery. She has published research on the role of self-compassion and self-criticism in the context of binge eating behaviour.
With the onset of COVID, Rebecca was deployed to provide psychological therapy to hospital frontline staff within the NHS. This involved helping staff cope with the anxiety, stress, burnout, grief and trauma reactions triggered by the COVID pandemic.
Her first job was working in a Primary Care Cognitive Behaviour Therapy service with adults experiencing difficulties with depression and anxiety and other struggles such as work-related stress, poor sleep, low confidence and self-esteem.
