Professor Prabhakar Rajan is an experienced international fellowship-trained and UK-accredited consultant urological surgeon based in London, UK. He treats patients with general urological conditions, and specialises in urological cancer surgery. Professor Rajan is an expert in robotic "keyhole" surgery for prostate cancer, and undertakes complex surgery for advanced testicular cancers. He is one of a few UK surgeons who lead a cancer research laboratory, and he also runs clinical trials to find new ways to treat prostate and testicular cancers.

Research interests

Professor Rajan leads a team of research scientists at Barts Cancer Institute (BCI), which is a world-class cancer research institute based at Queen Mary University of London. His group studies prostate cancer genetics to find new drug therapies and molecular tests to improve cancer diagnosis, monitoring and treatments. In his research, Professor Rajan strives to gain a better understanding of patient outcomes after existing treatments, and runs clinical trials of new therapies for prostate and testicular cancers. His ultimate research goal is to improve the lives of urological cancer patients. Professor Rajan has been awarded over >£4 million of research funding and published almost 100 articles, book chapters, and reviews.
