About me
My therapeutic orientation is guided and informed by a variety of theories including attachment, neuroscience, as well as clinical practices and developmental theories arising from humanistic, relational, mindfulness and psychodynamic approaches. I have specialist skills in the therapeutic use of different arts media, where creative activities and play can facilitate emotional awareness and alternative ways of communication. These can be carried through drawing, the use of clay, music, painting, as well as the use of the sand tray.
I have experience in working with children and young people with a vast range of difficulties, including those who have been adopted; who struggle with their gender identity; who have experienced loss, trauma, abuse, neglect, domestic violence, or bereavement; who experience depression, anxiety, or have issues with anger; with those who have physical disabilities, or are under a specific diagnosis.
I have worked with adopted children and their families for the past 16 years under different authorities and now with Adopt London South. I have had extensive trainings in Developmental Trauma and work related to adoption, through PAC-UK, as well as Family Futures. I have done training courses with Dr Daniel Hughes over several years. His framework of engagement is at the heart of my work with adopted children and their families.
