About me
I am a fully qualified and highly specialised child and adolescent psychotherapist, with a background in psychodynamic and art psychotherapy. I have over 18 years' experience in the NHS and in voluntary sector as well as in my private practice. I am fully registered with Association of Child Psychotherapists, British Association of Art Therapists, and the Health and Care Professions Council.
I value kindness, compassion and social justice in my work as well as in my private life, and my professional approach is rooted in my genuine interest in each individual's stories. My therapeutic style is trauma-informed, responsive, exploratory and creative. I base my work on the understanding that all human experiences are multi-sensory and relational, and am learning more about body-based work and the neurobiology of trauma, as well as psychoanalytic work with infants, children, young people and their families.
I work primarily with individuals (children, young people and adults) and family units.
I have very limited availability to take on new referrals and while I welcome enquiries, it is not always possible to offer appointments.
Areas of interest
I have particular interest in working with a range of issues which include, but are not limited to, loss and bereavement, complex trauma (in particular developmental and relational trauma), relationship difficulties at home and/or at school/work, abuse, impact of personal issues (including trauma, abuse, unintentional harm and addiction) on relationships, loneliness, identity issues, human rights abuse, vicarious and secondary traumatisation, and working with minority groups including refugees and asylum seekers.
