About me

Miss Andrea Elkan is a Consultant Ophthalmologist who completed her Ophthalmic Specialist training in Athens, Greece and received the European Board of Ophthalmology Fellowship in 2002 in Paris. She practiced Ophthalmology in Greece until 2010, gaining vast experience in General Ophthalmology and small incision cataract surgery.

Miss Elkan was a substantive Consultant at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust since January 2018 till May 2022 and was one of the clinical supervisors involved in the surgical training of Ophthalmology trainees.
She is currently a Consultant Ophthalmologist at University Hospitals Birmingham.

Miss Elkan is also a member of the UK based charity “Eye Care for Zambia”, which provides Ophthalmology training in Zambia as well as eye care for the population from various regions of the country.
