About me
Mr Georgoudis is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Whipps Cross University Hospital (Barts Health). He is the Clinical Lead for the department of Ophthalmology and the lead for the Cornea service at Whipps Cross.
He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Athens. After serving in the Hellenic Navy as an Ensign Medical Officer, he specialized in Ophthalmology, training in Surrey, Birmingham and Bristol and is on the GMC Specialist Register for Ophthalmology since March 2011.
He completed a two year's Fellowship in Cornea, Anterior Segment and Keratorefractive Surgery at the world renowned Corneoplastic Unit at Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead and an 18 month's Fellowship in Laser Refractive Surgery at Emmetropia Mediterranean Eye Institute in Crete.
He took a Locum Consultant post at Queen Victoria Hospital, where he provided corneal, glaucoma and cataract services, before he moved to Whipps Cross University Hospital in 2017.
He has considerable experience in cataract surgery, corneal diseases, dry eyes, ocular surface disease, keratoconus, and corneal transplantation.
He has a keen interest in teaching and is frequently invited as a speaker and faculty to national and international meetings.
He is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth), the UK and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS), the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) and the Hellenic Society of Intraocular Implant & Refractive Surgery (HSIOIRS).
