About me

Mr Jonathan Baxter is a Consultant Orthopaedic Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon offering expertise in the treatment of acute injuries and degenerative conditions in the Buckinghamshire and North West London area. He has a special interest in arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, tendon injuries including rotator cuff tears, fractures and dislocations of both joints. He offers treatment for both early and advanced arthritis and joint replacement surgery of the shoulder.

Mr Baxter studied medicine at the University of Nottingham before completing basic surgical training in the West Midlands and higher surgical training on the North West Orthopaedic programme. Following this he completed advanced fellowship training in reconstructive upper limb surgery at the St George’s Hospital upper limb unit and complex trauma at the Rowley Bristow unit, St Peter’s Hospital. He has spent six months of subspecialty training in shoulder and elbow surgery at the world renowned Wrightington Hospital upper limb unit.

His NHS practice is based at the Buckinghamshire Healthcare trust where he is the current departmental lead for Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery and previous subspecialty lead for shoulder and elbow surgery. He has a strong commitment to training having completed a master’s degree in surgical education and authored numerous peer reviewed articles and book chapters. His personal interests include rugby (spectating), skiing, golf and he has a passion for travel.

He maintains an evidence-based, patient centred approach to treatment aimed at returning patients to an active life after injury or operation.
