About me
Choosing a counsellor can be challenging. The therapeutic relationship is paramount in the process. Therefore, having some background may help in the process. Over the past fifteen years I have spent 10 years in palliative care supporting those with life limiting illnesses along with their families and loved ones. I have also spent nine years supporting survivors of sexual and domestic violence in various settings across the Southeast. I have worked within the NHS IAPT service along with agencies offering support with a diverse range of emotional and psychological problems including, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, bereavement and loss and psychological abuse, and childhood neglect.
I also have gone on to specialise in Trauma undertaking extensive additional training in this area. Including EMDR Therapy and critical stress management.
My working method is integrative which means I adopt more than one theoretical approach. Counselling allows you the opportunity to talk freely in a safe space, exploring negative beliefs and identify ways of overcoming 'blocks' and repetitive patterns of behaviour. finding tools and techniques to help manage past experiences and events in the here and now. This can include changing unhelpful patterns of thinking which can trigger psychological and emotional distress.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists(BACP) and I hold a current enhanced DBS certificate. I offer short- or long-term therapy according to the needs of the client. I work either face to face, telephone, or video. I can offer evening and weekend (Saturday) appointments subject to availability
