About me
I am a fully qualified and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with additional training in Schema Therapy and EMDR.
I often work with people who describe themselves as 'people-pleasers' and are feeling fed up by their people-pleasing tendencies. As an trauma specialist I utilise my experience, knowledge and skills to help you get to the root of your difficulties and overcome how these difficulties are impacting you in the present.
Common difficulties I help people with relate to;
Feeling anxious & overwhelmed
Sacrificing yourself for others & feeling resentful
Worrying about making mistakes or letting people down
Overthinking & perfectionism
Relationship difficulties & avoiding confrontation
Struggling to say no / setting boundaries
Feeling run-down or burnt-out
Indecisiveness & self-doubt
Not feeling good enough & self-criticism
Changing who you are to 'fit in'
Worrying what others think & approval/recognition-seeking
Holding back from trying new things for fear of failing or being mocked
Struggling to know who you really are & what you really want from life.
I realise it can be daunting reaching out for therapy, please be reassured when you enter therapy with me you aren't expected to lead the conversation and fill the silence and you certainly won't be expected to lie on a couch whilst I psychoanalyse you! Instead, my focus is putting you at ease, guiding the conversation when necessary and managing your expectations for therapy whilst emphasising my non-judgmental, genuine and approachable nature. I am by no means overly formal within my approach and clients often report finding it reassuring and beneficial that I am professional yet down-to-earth and genuine.
