About me

About me:

I am an experienced psychotherapist and have worked with a range of clients over many years. I am accredited by the BACP, which means my practice has been deemed to meet the BACP’s higher standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner.

I am an integrative psychotherapist meaning lots of theories make up my therapeutic toolbox - every client is different; I don’t use a ‘one size fits all’ approach, but the single most important factor of therapy is the relationship we strike up. Having a good rapport with your therapist is essential for productive therapy, therefore allowing different theories to inform my work enables me to find the best fit for you. Therapy is most successful when the client is engaged with the relationship and the work. It is very much a two-way relationship/journey. Honesty is at the fore of the work; I don’t expect clients to be open and honest with me if I’m not willing to be as well.

***I can guarantee a response to an initial contact within 24 hours and I have flexible session times available***

What our sessions will look like:

All sessions last 50 minutes. Our first session will be an assessment where I will ask some questions to understand more about you, your life, your experiences and your hopes/wishes from therapy. Subsequent sessions will be less question heavy as we begin working through your difficulties. My role as the therapist is to interject with thoughts which will encourage us to explore patterns and themes further. This allows you to build an awareness of the person you are, the behaviours you display and the roots of them. Building awareness in this way is the aim of therapy, as with awareness comes choice, choice about the changes you can and want to make to improve your life.

People seek counselling for various reasons, whether it be to change something in their lives, or simply explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth. Being self-aware and having the capability to think and feel emotions with clarity and understanding is what allows you to make changes to restore balance and enhance your life.

Everything we discuss is held in the strictest of confidence as set out by the ethical framework of the BACP. There are absolutely no conditions or expectations placed upon you. Therapy goes at your pace, it is your time, you are in control. It is a unique journey about us working together to understand your world, yourself and discover your own inner resources. Only the decisions you make will empower you.
