About me
I specialise in treating patients with biliary (gallstone and pancreas) disease, reflux disease, and abdominal wall hernia using a minimal access approach. This includes both robotic assisted and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. I also deal with lumps and bumps. I am accredited in diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy.
I am a consultant in upper gastrointestinal (Upper GI) and general surgery based at the Wirral University Teaching Hospitals (WUTH) NHS Foundation Trust. I am also the clinical specialty lead and the interim clinical director for gastrointestinal surgery at WUTH. After completing my higher specialist training in the South West and London deanery, I pursued a fellowship in upper GI surgery at two world-renowned centres: Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia, and St. James Hospital in Leeds. I am a member of the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ALSGBI), and the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery (EAES).
I have an active interest in patient-reported outcomes having done a higher degree from the University of Bristol, and have authored book chapters and papers in peer-reviewed journals in this field. I maintain a great interest in teaching and training, and am an accredited trainer on a number of Royal College of Surgeons run courses including the internationally acclaimed Non-Operative Technical Skills for Surgeons (NOTSS) course.
