About me
Mirek Polanowski is a BACP-accredited integrative counsellor, clinical supervisor, and trainer. He works in private practice with individuals, couples, and supervisees, and is also involved with several established organisations, including CPPD (where he teaches and supervises), DePaul, The Psychosynthesis Education Trust, and EACH Counselling and Support.
Mirek's clinical experience spans private practice, the NHS, and the charitable sector. He has supported clients facing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges including trauma (especially early childhood), anxiety, depression, addictions, domestic abuse, and complex relational difficulties. He has also worked extensively with marginalised and socially excluded communities, bringing depth, sensitivity, and respect to his practice.
As an integrative therapist, Mirek draws from a number of therapeutic approachesincluding psychodynamic, humanistic, attachment-based, Gestalt, CBT, and trauma-informed modelsalways with a relational and responsive focus. He believes that our early experiences can strongly influence how we think, feel, and relate in the present. Therapy can help us untangle what is happening now from what may be an unhelpful legacy of the past. This doesn't mean you'll be expected to explore your historybut when it feels relevant, Mirek supports this with care, sensitivity, and appropriate pacing.
He provides a calm and supportive space where you can safely explore what matters to you, make sense of what feels difficult, and begin to move toward change. He won't tell you what to dobut he will help you deepen your understanding, find your voice, and draw on your own inner resources.
