About me

Mr Ronnie Davies is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon working at Manchester Foundation Trust. He has a specialist interest in shoulder & elbow surgery.

He trained at Cambridge University medical school and, after spending a few years around the area as a junior doctor moved back to Manchester where he completed his training in trauma & orthopaedic surgery. He subsequently undertook higher fellowship training in shoulder & elbow surgery at the renowned Robert Jones Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, before commencing work as a consultant in Manchester.

Mr. Davies knows that many shoulder problems can be successfully treated without surgery. He takes his time to speak to patients in plain English so that they can understand the cause of their problems and treatment options. He confesses that he really loves the variety of his job and gets a lot of satisfaction from meeting and treating all types of people.

Most of his time is spent at Wythenshawe Hospital, a large teaching hospital, where he treats all types of common injuries, including complex injuries around the shoulder and elbow. He also runs specialist clinics for people with shoulder & elbow problems.
He also performs surgery at Trafford Hospital’s purpose-built Orthopaedic Centre.

Although he treats most conditions, including rotator cuff tears, frozen shoulder and shoulder arthritis, he has a particular interest in using technology to improve the accuracy of surgery, including 3D printing and surgical navigation. He runs some innovative services, including a one-stop clinic for shoulder problems, allowing X-rays, scans, injections and other treatments all to be provided in a single visit.

His main passion outside clinical medicine is teaching and training. He is the Education Lead for the North West orthopaedic teaching programme, organising regular teaching for a group of 60 trainee surgeons.

Mr. Davies was born and raised in Bury. He is married to a clinical psychologist and has two little boys. In his free time, he enjoys racket sports and cooking.
