About me
Dr Abraham Neduvamkunnil (likes to be known as Dr Abraham)
FRCPCH MRCPCH (UK), DCH, MBBS
I am a consultant paediatrician and educator at Nottingham University hospitals. My medical education began at the Ambedkar University in Maharashtra, India. After completing my specialty training in paediatrics, I worked in Oman before moving to the UK. Having received the National Merit Scholarship from the Indian government and the Appreciation Award for excellence in Paediatrics by the Ministry of Health, Oman, I was ready to begin my career with the diverse population in the UK.
For the past two decades, I have served patients in the UK and taught medical students and paediatric trainees. As an experienced paediatrician, I am confident with the management of a wide repertoire of medical conditions beginning in the new-born period and through adolescence. My communication skills and passion for treating children, allow me to establish a rapport with my patients and their families. The medical experience in Oman and India has given me unique skills in the management of infectious diseases and consanguinity-related rare conditions in children. In the UK, I dedicated time to working in the fields of general paediatrics, paediatric neuro-disability and epilepsy. I specialise in the management of acute, common and rare illness in children including fits, headache, wheeze, asthma, eczema, food allergies, constipation, urine infections feeding disorders, and food intolerances.
I value patient confidentiality, holistic approach, patient cantered care and evidence-based medicine. I enjoy the role of being the educational supervisor for paediatric trainees and serve as a panel member in their selection process. I am also an examiner for International medical graduates. In addition to teaching, I value evidence-based medicine and am the clinical audit lead for paediatrics and serve on the governance committee at the busy tertiary Nottingham Hospital.
I believe that a paediatrician’s training is complete only when they experience the courage it takes to raise their own children. I am blessed to be a father of two children who have taught me more than textbooks can. I continue to raise the next generation of doctors and paediatricians by serving in leadership roles. I look forward to an opportunity to serve your children and families and thank you in advance for the confidence and trust you place in me.
