About me

Mr KM Jasani is a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in Cataract and Vitreoretinal Surgery based at the world renowned Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.

Clinical Competency

Mr Jasani offers comprehensive assessment to ascertain the underlying cause and subsequent management in relation to all aspects of general ophthalmology, medical and surgical retina.

Surgical Experience & Sub-Speciality Expertise

His surgical expertise lies in both routine and complex cataract surgery with special focus on all vitreoretinal procedures. This includes the treatment of retinal detachments, macula holes, epiretinal membranes as well as age related macula degeneration, floaters and complex diabetic eye diseases.

He specialises in the use of the latest micro-incisional vitreoretinal techniques such as 23, 25 and 27G Pars Plana Vitrectomy, surgery for complex retinal detachments, bimanual surgery for changes caused by severe diabetic retinopathy in the eye and insertion of secondary intraocular lenses.

Training and Registration

Mr Jasani completed his Graduation from the University of Manchester and did Specialty Training in Ophthalmology at the North Western Deanery primarily based at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.

He then went on to do a Gene Therapy Research Fellowship with Professor Robert MacLaren at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Oxford working on gene therapy projects both in Oxford Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

In addition, Mr Jasani has undertaken two years of sub-specialty fellowships in Medical and Vitreoretinal Surgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologist in London and the European Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the British and Eire Association of Vitreoretinal Surgeons. He is also a faculty member of ESASO and a Lecturer at the University of Manchester Medical School.
