About me
Duncan has a passion for reaching hard to engage members of society and providing preventative and accessible community based mental healthcare. He uses an integrative therapeutic approach, founded on principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Mindfulness Practice, DBT, Narrative Therapy, Positive Psychology and other social constructionist/constructivist approaches including Personal Construct Therapy. Duncan works hard to help people understand their difficulties within the context of their lives. He has considerable experience helping individuals to develop psychological resilience, find meaning, rebuild self-identity, purpose, enjoyment, social connection and adaptive coping strategies.
Duncan is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, UK. Duncan has spent the last decade serving in the British and Australian Army as a Military Clinical Psychologist and has a specialist interest in psychological trauma and Complex PTSD. He was the first clinical psychologist to be awarded a commission as an Officer in the British Army and has been responsible for the development of innovative mental health care and human performance programs in both the British and Australian Army. In recent years he has developed considerable leadership experience as the clinical lead in multidisciplinary teams.
