About me

I am an Associate Professor in Pain Medicine and Neuromodulation at Queen Mary University of London and a Consultant in Pain Medicine and Neuromodulation at Barts Health NHS Trust, St Bartholomew's Hospital, London.

I completed my specialist training in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at Barts Health NHS Trust and subsequently undertook advanced fellowship training in neuromodulation, specialising in the assessment and management of patients with complex chronic pain. I was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by Queen Mary University of London for my pioneering research into neuromodulation, exploring the effects of spinal cord stimulation on brain function. I hold the Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) and the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FFPMRCA).

My clinical practice is centred on providing holistic, evidence-based, patient-centred care for people living with chronic pain. I offer comprehensive assessment and treatment using pharmacological therapies, multidisciplinary pain management, and a wide range of image-guided interventional pain procedures.

I have a particular interest and expertise in advanced neuromodulation therapies, including:

Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS)
Dorsal Root Ganglion (DRG) Stimulation
Restorative Neurostimulation (ReActiv8� Multifidus Stimulation)
Occipital Nerve Stimulation (ONS)
Peripheral Nerve Stimulation (PNS)

These therapies are offered to carefully selected patients with conditions such as chronic back pain, persistent spinal pain syndrome (failed back surgery syndrome), neuropathic pain, peripheral diabetic neuropathy, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), chronic migraine, cluster headache, occipital neuralgia, pelvic pain, and other refractory pain conditions. I also perform radiofrequency procedures, epidural injections, nerve blocks, sacroiliac joint interventions, and other advanced image-guided pain procedures.

Working within a highly experienced multidisciplinary team, I support patients throughout their neuromodulation journey, from assessment and patient selection to implantation, long-term follow-up, and device programming, ensuring personalised care and optimal outcomes.

Alongside my clinical work, I am actively involved in translational and clinical research through the Pain and Anaesthesia Research Centre at the William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London. My research interests include spinal cord stimulation, restorative neurostimulation for chronic low back pain, occipital nerve stimulation for headache disorders, sacroiliac joint interventions, and other innovative pain therapies. I continue to lead and contribute to several national and international research studies, including NIHR-funded clinical trials.

I am passionate about advancing education in pain medicine and neuromodulation. I am the Programme Lead for the Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert) in Neuromodulation and Pain Management at Queen Mary University of London, the first university-accredited programme of its kind internationally, and Co-Director of the Executive Education Programme in Neuromodulation (EEPIN). Through collaboration with internationally recognised faculty, I am committed to training the next generation of clinicians and promoting excellence in neuromodulation worldwide.

My philosophy is to combine compassionate, personalised care with the latest scientific evidence and innovative technologies, helping patients improve their function, quality of life, and overall wellbeing.
