About me
As a Clinical Psychologist, I am trained to use a wide range of therapeutic approaches for a variety of mental health problems. Since qualifying in 2004, I have undertaken further training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and am a BABCP accredited practitioner and supervisor.
I worked as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist (BABCP accredited) within an NHS Community Eating Disorders Service and have 20years full-time experience of working clinically and academically in this field. Although my main area of expertise is working with people with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, over-eating and obesity, I also work with people presenting with a range of other problems including depression, anxiety, OCD and trauma. My main therapeutic approach is evidence-based CBT treatments, although I use other integrative disorder-specific approaches when appropriate.
I work with individuals and couples and always adopt a person-centred approach with the aim of fostering a strong and collaborative working relationship. Because it is important to me to assess whether the therapeutic approach and any work we undertake together is effective, I also use appropriately selected questionnaires to monitor progress as well as satisfaction with therapy.
