About me

Hi, I'm Ian and I believe two things:

1, anxiety, low mood and trauma don't have to ruin your life, and
2, you don't need to suffer in silence,

Using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) we can work together to overcome problems and get back to living the life you want to live.

Over the last 13 years I've worked with a wide range of people whose experiences have created particular challenges for their mental health, including; police officers, ex-armed forces personnel, teachers, nurses, barristers, British Transport Police officers and people with a variety of long term health conditions.

I've worked with survivors who have experienced traumatic events, including; being taken hostage, domestic abuse, road traffic accidents, traumatic bereavement, terrorist incidents, sexual abuse/assault and armed conflict.

This diversity of experience has helped me understand the challenges people face, in their private lives, at work and and following distressing incidents where their life may have been at risk.

Prior to training as a CBT Therapist in 2010, I spent the first 15 years of my working life in a range of sectors, including legal services, the civil service and retail. As a result, I have broad life experience and my approach to therapy is empathic, pragmatic, grounded in the real world and non-judgmental.

I'm also a husband, tech nerd, a huge music fan and dad to a brilliant 4 year old boy.
