About me
Professor Richard Cohen, Professor of Surgery UCL; Clinical Professor of Surgery, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. He is a leading London colorectal and general surgeon based at the Cleveland Clinic London. An expert on minimally-invasive laparoscopic and open colorectal surgery, colorectal cancer, and IBD, he also serves as a Professor of Surgery (UCL), where he has helped to develop the colorectal service since joining in 2005. He is known for pioneering the introduction of new techniques here in the UK.
Professor Cohen trained at the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine (Trinity College), before spending two years in research at Yale University, USA. He completed further training as a surgical registrar in Manchester and at Guy's and St Thomas' in London, followed by a residency at St Mark's, where he was later appointed Consultant Colorectal Surgeon in 1999. Professor Cohen has previously served as the Trust Clinical Director for Patient Flow at UCLH and is involved with training young surgeons. He lectures both nationally and internationally and is involved in research within his field.
