About me
Can you tell me a bit about your background?
?
I have had the privilege of working with people who struggle with their mental health, for over 10 years. I completed my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Oxford University. My background is rather diverse, having grown up in 6 different countries (Ethiopia, Cyprus, Zambia, Fujairah, Germany and England). As a psychologist, I have lived and practiced in England, China and most recently in Mexico. I have worked with people across the life span, with children, families and couples. I also have extensive experience working with children and adults who struggled profoundly in their early attachment relationships.
What will it be like when I meet you?
I will provide you with a safe, nurturing and confidential space, where you will have the opportunity to explore, make sense of and hopefully overcome challenges that you are facing. You will have the chance to see if you feel comfortable working with me before we start the deeper work. It will be a collaborative process where I will honour your views on your own experiences. You will not be judged. I will encourage you to fully and deeply explore the difficulties that bring you to therapy, without the pressure of disclosing anything you feel you would prefer not to talk about. We will regularly examine how we are doing in relation to our therapy goals and how the therapeutic relationship feels for you.
What therapies do you use and what kind of difficulties do you help people with?
The therapeutic approach I use is entirely dependent on what will suit the person coming to therapy. I regularly use CBT, systemic therapies (e.g. narrative therapy, family therapy), attachment informed therapies (e.g. DDP) and EMDR for trauma. I work with people who experience a range of mental health difficulties, including (but not exclusively) PTSD, OCD, anxiety and depression. Often people will come to see me for more general difficulties with self-esteem, feelings of shame, or loss, adjustments to life changes or reactions to traumatic experiences.
What are your interests outside of psychology?
I love spending time with my family and friends. I thrive on adventures and am passionate about travelling. I love playing basketball. I can't resist a deep conversation about the meaning of life. I feel most relaxed when I'm surrounded by beautiful and wild nature.
