About me

Lexy has worked with clients experiencing a range of mental health difficulties and distress. Her therapeutic approach focuses on using warmth and curiosity with the aim of supporting clients to develop an understanding about their difficulties, and helpful ways to work with them.

Lexy was drawn to Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) as it focuses on helping us understand psychological pain and distress using ideas from evolutionary psychology, with an emphasis on skills training to develop a ‘compassionate self-identity’. The aim is that, with this knowledge and training, comes the strength and courage needed to turn towards difficulties and live a life with meaning. Lexy recognises the importance of this approach and brings it to all areas of her daily life.

Lexy’s therapeutic approach is predominately informed by CFT but can also draw on ideas from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, including 3rd wave approaches, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Lexy’s areas of interest include working with adults with problems with anxiety, depression, self-criticism and longer-standing difficulties. Lexy used to work in the NHS with adults with Learning Disabilities, who may also have had other neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder. Lexy currently works solely in private practice offering CFT-informed work to individuals and organisations.

Overall, Lexy considers it to be an immense privilege to work in this field and is always guided by the intention to find helpful ways forward for each individual client, appreciating difference and diversity, and adapting the work as needed.
