About me

I am a qualified accredited counsellor/psychotherapist. I have been practicing since 2011. Following the core
training for 4 years, I completed a BA in Humanistic Counselling achieving a First Class Honours, specialising
in Grief and Loss, Stress and Trauma. I went on to lecture in counselling for 8 years and Achieving another
degree Professional Graduate in Education, I went on to lecture in counselling for 8 years. Further study involved completing an MA in trauma studies achieving a distinction and becoming a Trauma Specialist.

My approach to counselling is integrative, fundamentally built on the humanistic approach. I work in a person-centred way which means that you are at the heart of the session.
My aim is to provide an environment where your
thoughts and feelings are given the time and space - to be voiced, heard, processed, and overcome.

My perspective about counselling;
We all experience problems in our lives at some point, whether you may be going through a period of crisis, or perhaps you are hoping to change some self-defeating patterns of thinking and behaviour.

Our own thoughts/feelings are unique to us - this inner world can sometimes be self-destructive; negative thoughts or self-doubt. An everyday occurrence or a rollercoaster of conflicting emotions. This may lead to anxiety/depression and/or confused feelings.

When we are troubled we often don't know what type of help we need we just know we need help and struggle to find a way to manage our emotions. Telling someone you know (family/friends) may be difficult because it is personal and private, and they may offer their own opinion and advice, which may be not what you are wanting to hear, you may just want to let your troubles out.

Counselling offers different help; it provides a non-judgmental response, counselling encourages you to work through painful feelings, to grow in self-understanding and confidence, to explore and develop coping strategies by looking at your options.

I am a registered accredited member of BACP, my ethical obligations and duty of care towards both clients and my profession are very important to me.

Anxiety/Stress can cause irritability and reduce our ability to cope with the pressures of life.

Trauma, Bereavement, relationship issues and family issues are all experiences that can be very difficult and painful to deal with, and we can feel very alone and isolated. Perhaps there is someone to talk to, but they do not fully understand how YOU feel and the effect it may be having on you.

I offer face-to-face counselling, either short-term structured or long-term therapy, usually weekly or fortnightly sessions. I can offer daytime & evening appointments, and online sessions.
